It is intended that this publication will serve to increase the accessibility of valuable evidence and experiences to policy-makers within Australia. The University of Queensland and the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust also hope that it will encourage more partnership approaches toward developing public policy that are informed by broad groups of experts, including Churchill Fellows.

The results from this study have been analysed across three different categories: climate change audience segments, civic behaviours and private behaviours. These themes have been further segmented to discuss the implications of age and gender on environmental behaviours.

2022 will be remembered as the year of the 'great deluge' - when record-breaking rain and floods lashed large parts of Eastern Australia, causing untold devastation for Australians and the national economy. The authors of this report call for all levels of government to speed up their emission reductions and disaster preparation efforts.

This report argues that policies and investments that reduce transport emissions can be put in place now using existing technologies. This makes reducing emissions in the transport sector quickly this decade much easier than is the case for some other sectors of the economy, where solutions are in earlier stages of development.
