This final report considers the role of the manufacturer, the distributor and Australian governments in providing support to Australia's thalidomide survivors. It also considers some of difficulties thalidomide survivors have experienced with the NDIS.

The bulk of this report deals with issues relating to the rehabilitation of mining and resources projects in Australia. Issues relating to the rehabilitation of power station ash dams, examined under the inquiry's expanded terms of reference, are dealt with in a standalone chapter of the report.

This report recommends an overarching franchising framework that is fair for all participants and which recognises that, in franchising (just like banking and financial services), disclosure alone is an insufficient regulatory response to power imbalances and exploitative behaviour by powerful corporations.

The intractable maths of low income earners' family budgets pushes them towards the marginal credit products such as payday loans, consumer leases and debt management firms. This report argues that government can and should improve the terms under which these products are offered.

This Inquiry reviewed current international practice regarding petitions in parliament, recommending reforms to streamline the process locally and encourage more Australian residents to submit petitions.
