The current Gambling Act is from 2003. Back then, internet technology was still developing. Law makers couldn’t have foreseen the way that gambling would develop online. This discussion document has been released to seek public feedback on a new framework for online gambling in New Zealand.

New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, delivered this speech in Melbourne on Thursday 18 July, at an event organised by ANZSOG in partnership with the City of Melbourne.

This framework defines standards for written policy and advice across four areas: context, analysis, advice and action. It helps agencies assess quality and ensure advice is fit for purpose. While focused on written products, oral advice should reflect the same principles, even if not all details apply.

This guidance is designed to enable child welfare and protection agencies, and some independent persons, to request, use and share personal information for specific purposes related to the wellbeing and safety of children.

The Family Violence Act 2018 introduced information sharing laws to allow the family violence sector to collect, use and disclose personal information for specified purposes. This operational guidance has been developed to support the family violence sector to use the new law.
