This report summarises a multi-stage project undertaken by a team at the University of South Australia for the RAI’s Intergovernmental Shared Inquiry Program in 2021-22.

Through analysis of Melbourne’s Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) as a case study, this paper explores intersection between different stakeholder objectives and logics, and asks: “Why did the UGB change so much within the first decade of its establishment?”

The energy efficiency of privately rented homes is poorer than that of owner-occupied homes in many countries across Europe, North America and Australasia. This is paper proposes that a wide range of psychological, dwelling-related, and situational factors influence landlords’ energy efficiency retrofit behaviour.

This paper investigates the underlying drivers attracting cross-border investment to housing market across Australia, explores how these ‘pull factors’ varied before and after the changes of foreign investment policy settings, and how shifting foreign investment regulations over the past decade influenced local housing affordability.

This study provides illustration of the cognitive, affective and behavioral components of 'sense of place' through three case studies from Victoria.
