This interim report summarises evidence and identifies key issues from an inquiry into Australia’s youth justice and incarceration system. Evidence highlighted that Australia’s youth justice system is in crisis and vulnerable children and young people are being held in detention without adequate and appropriate supports. The report makes two recommendations.

This report makes 12 recommendations for reform to the sentencing of occupational health and safety (OHS) offences in Victoria. The recommendations relate to victims and other affected persons, changes in sentencing practices, and fine payment and distribution.

This paper examines the research on the relationship between social capital and crime. It specifically considers the evidence on whether a person’s social capital (personal networks and community cohesion) reduces the risk that they will break the law. It presents nine guidelines for policymakers.

Sexual extortion is a form of blackmail in which a perpetrator threatens to release intimate material of a victim unless they comply with certain demands. This paper examines the prevalence and nature of sexual extortion among adolescents and finds more than one in 10 had experienced sexual extortion in their lifetime.

This report reviews the first four years of Victoria's Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2017, finding it is generally operating safely and as intended. The report also identifies areas for improvement, including enhancing community awareness, supporting the workforce and ensuring equitable access, particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and multicultural communities.
