Out-of-school suspension from primary school and early contact with police
This study examined associations between out-of-school suspension from primary school and early contact with police in New South Wales. The odds of suspended children experiencing any contact were three times those of non-suspended children. The study finds that systemic intersectoral reform to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline by enacting effective alternatives to suspension is required.

Immigration status is not recognised as a protected attribute under federal or state anti-discrimination law, with the Australian Capital Territory being the sole exception. Research shows that discrimination on the basis of immigration status is widespread. This brief analyses gaps in the current legal framework and sets out recommendations for reform.

The insights shared by project participants reveal the profound pain and distress caused by increased racism targeting the affected communities. It draws on the expertise, insight, lived and living experience shared in 97 submissions, as well as Australian and international research.
