This rapid review screened over 3000 references to identify 2 reviews and 11 primary studies that addressed the research question - what housing and housing assistance programs effectively prevent adults re-offending? The included studies were limited to peer-reviewed publications between 2010-2023, taking place in Australia, the UK, the USA, Canada or New Zealand.

In mid-2022, the Australian Human Rights Commission conducted inspections, interviews and consultations to monitor the human rights of people detained in hotel Alternative Places of Detention (APODs) in Melbourne and Brisbane. This report describes the living conditions within hotel APODs and provides an assessment of the human rights impacts.
