Victim-survivors' reflections on best practice in restorative justice for domestic, family and sexual violence


Research examining restorative justice (RJ) for domestic and family violence (DFV) and sexual violence is growing. However, there has been little empirical examination of the perspectives of victim-survivors on best practice. This study addresses this gap drawing on victim-survivor participants in an Australian RJ program.

Aboriginal deaths in custody in Western Australian prisons

This article provides an overview of the nature and adequacy of culturally appropriate health services within Western Australian prisons based on coroner findings on Aboriginal deaths in custody between 2019 to 2023. The findings reported substandard quality of supervision, care and treatment. The article calls for implementation of recommendations from Australian government inquiries.

This briefing note uses data on market prices, production and revenue from Adani’s Carmichael Coal Mine, to estimate the discrepancy between the royalties paid by Adani and the royalties that might have been expected by the Queensland Revenue Office. It finds that Adani appear to have underpaid coal royalties by almost $400 million.

This paper examines how legal frameworks in New South Wales (NSW) shape decision-making for people living with dementia, given the challenges posed by progressive cognitive decline. It considers traditional surrogate decision-​making models and the supported decision-making approach. The paper highlights legal reforms and experiences from other Australian jurisdictions, in particular Victoria.
