The National Homicide Monitoring Program is Australia’s only national data collection on homicide incidents, victims and offenders. This report describes the 218 homicide incidents recorded by Australian state and territory police between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2022.

A Charter of Human Rights for Tasmania? Update
In this research paper, the Tasmania Law Reform Institute (TLRI) has reviewed and updated its 2007 report on human rights in Tasmania, upholding its key recommendations which included the need for a Charter of Rights. The TLRI makes 21 recommendations and urges Tasmania to become the fourth jurisdiction in Australia to adopt human rights legislation.

The independent statutory review is being conducted to examine the effectiveness of the Online Safety Act’s regulatory approach. It will determine whether changes are needed to make sure Australia’s online safety laws remain fit-for-purpose. This includes examining issues such as online hate and new harms raised by emerging technologies such as generative artificial intelligence.
